FOURTEEN- CURSEWARE COMPLETION!

Hiiiii! I feel so relieved that courseware deigning for educational purposes has reach 100% level of progress. Haha it was an amazing experience and we have shared the link to the class' google drive. We hope that it will beneficial the targeted audience :)

THIRTEEN- After lesson, practice!

This week is probably the week we need to complete our lesson and also exercises for the topic we have chosen to be presented on this courseware. Lesson was pretty long and the explanations were detailed and compact to make sure students' of our target can understand. For practice, we've divided them into three parts according to the level of the game; easy, intermediate and difficult. Practice 1 will test on the categorization of the adjectives. Next, we inserted fill in the blanks template in Practice 2. Last but not least, Part 3 tests the students on multiple choice questions with a total of 10 questions. I'll share the link of the courseware in the next post. Thanks for dropping by!:)

TWELVE- Smartbuilder: Lesson Design

Hi there! The first three pages of our courseware was approved and we were granted permission to proceed to our lesson! We designed this courseware learning specifically on the topic Comparative and Superlative Adjectives under grammar focus. We targeted intermediate level of students aging from 18-20 years. Hence, the lesson that we provided will be specific and detailed. Oh, before I forget- Madam Azida taught us to insert the 'button' onto each of the slides and again, she demonstrated it step by step in front. It was quite tricky at first but there are a lot of pages to be edited on this courseware, so like they say, practice makes perfect. Besides, we also learnt to insert background music to help enhance students' mind and not keep it boring. Our lesson plan oj courseware seems to go as planned. Please pray that we'll manage to pull this off, ya? Thank you!

ELEVEN- SmartBuilder

See the logo? That's a SmartBuilder's logo! Remember in the previous post whereby I mentioned that we were given courseware assignment? This is the software that we need to use in order to design our very own educational software. Well, on our very first courseware designing class, madam Azida taught us how to insert the objects and shapes onto the canvas on the computer and change the colors. She also demonstrated on how to apply background to the canvas in case we intend to do so. If you focus on what is being said and showed in front of the class, you'll know how addictive SmartBuilder is and how fun it gets when you know how to conduct them. Our lecturer requested to see the first three pages of our courseware design covering the attention grabber, objectives and homepage in the next class. See you!

TEN- What is courseware?

What is courseware?  Courseware is a software program that is invented mainly for educational purposes. It pairs up with the computer to complement each other in aiding students with language learning. It was once stored and available on CDs but the development of technology in this modern era made it possible to be in a flash drive, compact disks or materials placed online.  Upon explanation, madam Azida informed us that we will need to invent one of our own. She first introduced us to the platform where we need to carry out the plan- SmartBuilder. She briefed us through the topics and target audience. We had to brainstorm for awhile before laying out the draft on the url provided by our lecturer. I look forward to the lesson regarding this courseware!

NINE- GAGNE 9 EVENTS OF IINSTRUCTION

So here's the poster that my group and I invented. Each group was given 1 model and we had Gsgne 9 EVENTS. We also produced a game testing students' understanding based on what we have explained in class. Click on the link below to play! https://create.kahoot.it/share/gagne-s-9-events-of-instruction/14611d15-78fe-4d9e-a6bd-18baa091b097

THREE- Computer, Search Engine & CMC

According to the Communicative Approach, there are three roles of a computer; as a tutor, stimulus and tool. I undoubtedly agree with this. A tutor allows me to learn without giving me the pressure and so doesI a computer. I can learn so many things without being judge on the answer that I give. I am in control of the choices and interaction that I make in answering the questions. On the other hajd, computer's role in acting as a stimulus is quite fun as well. It stimulates students' discussion, writing and critical thinking. Language learning is integrated into interactive games that helps to keep the enthusiasm going. On topthe ofand that, comouter can also act as a tool. The generic softwares in a computer like Word Processor and Publisher does not provide materials but they can help students to learn language using these softwares.  Besides, I have also learnt about search engines and online database. Search engine is a web tool that allows users to enter keywords a...

EIGHT- Powtoon: Awareness Video

Hi, again! Upon submission of the Powtoon individual assignment on life goals, we were given another task- group work to complete an explanatory video on an awareness campaign of our choice. I am working with Mas Izzatul and Shaziah for this task and we chose the awareness of using sunscreen. We choose the topic because the Earth is experiencing the global problem of the thinning of the ozone layer which made the planet hotter than before. The UV rays from sunlight is a source of skin damaging factor and could lead up to skin cancer if there's too much of it on our skin. Yes, nobody can avoid sunlight but the usage of sunscreen helps slowing down the process and protect our skin.  Watch our video now to know more of the importance of sunscreen application to our skin and the correct guidelines. I hope you'll enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwSEG_Ht3pQ&rel=0

SEVEN- Powtoon: Life Goals

In the previous class, Madam Azida introduced us to Powtoon and she wanted us to do an explanatory video on our life goals. I do have mine- quite a long list actually. Don't laugh because no matter how worst one gets, deep within they want to have achievements in life. So do I. And so do you. Well, at first I thought it was impossible for me to do one myself as I am not so much of a technology-updated kind of lady. I loveeee watching explanatory videos that people upload on YouTube but to make one myself- are you able to do that, Amelia? I tried- it turned out looking not as bad as I thought, hahaha. It qas a bit tricky for me at first looking at it features to choose and the arrangements, then template choices made me confused as well. But finally I managed to pull it off! So here's my very first technology artwork show off. Click the link below to watch!

SIX- Introduction to Powtoon

Have you heard of Powtoon before? If this is your first time, then we are equal! I just knew about Powtoon in Madsm Azida's class. It is a software that creates animated and explanatory videos- that is awesome. I mean can you imagine our lives needing to only read and see text to understand the whole concept? This makes learning a whole lot of fun! Personally and I think majority of people out there would agree that the maker of Powtoon is a genius for inventing this. Besides making life easier for people to understand something through stimuli-enhanced videos, they help conveying the message in the video clearer to the audience. I do mistajen a, lot of ambiguous phrases written in my reading material, hence this is a good way to deliver the messages clearly to people. I'm excited to making my own explanatory video!

TWO- Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL)

In class, madam Azida introduced us to computer-assisted learning or in short, CALL. I remember not learning the first time because I was in Materials and Adaptation class with Madam Ilyani Idris during diploma and she taught us this as well, but she only introduced us to the surface of it. Entering Internet Technology class, I added my knowledge to 80% on CALL. CALL is a tool that was developed in the 1960s when computer was first discovered possible to be a helpful tool to teach and learn language. In the 1970s, computer was established as the education tool and it developed from one stage to another; behavioristic CALL, communicative CALL and integrative CALL. There are four main types of CALL namely the CALL specific software, generic software, web-based learning material and computer media communication (CMC) programs. CALL specific software The first stage of CALL that is the behavioristic CALL has a programmed instruction which involves repetitive drill and practice. Thi...

FIVE- PODCAST CREATED!

Hi! Remember when I said I started listening to podcast in my previous post? My friend, Shaziah and I did one of our own!!! We were fantasizing that we are the DJs of our own channel and we started talking. We recorded the audio on our phone and transferred it to the app called Audacity to edit the unwanted noises. I don't want to talk much, so here goes! Enjoy our humble podcast!
